The advisory network at Göttingen – integration of the university’s central and faculty advisory services

In the process of implementing the comprehensive university-wide Professionalisation of the Offices of the Deans of Studies project, the position of the networking coordinator for the advisory services was created in the Department for Academic Programme Development and Teaching Quality in the 2008 summer semester, with the aim, in part, of simplifying the university’s advisory structures and making them more transparent.

For each faculty, a single point of contact for study and examinations advice was established which provides comprehensive advice for students in terms of study organisation, study abroad and post-graduate opportunities.

Project launch Self Assessment for Prospective Students at Göttingen

The networking coordinator’s task brief further comprises the conception and implementation of a system of self assessment for prospective students at the University of Göttingen. Prospective students are furnished with a set of self assessment tools tailored to assist them in their choice of degree and allow them to familiarise themselves in advance with their favoured course of study. The project was launched in July 2010.
